Naming Ceremony of Lingnan Education Organization Archive of the Re-establishment of Lingnan University-cum-Lingnan Education Organization Ambassadors Appointment Ceremony
To celebrate the relocation of Lingnan University Archives and its official title, LU organised the Naming Ceremony of Lingnan Education Organization Archive of the Re-establishment of Lingnan University-cum-Lingnan Education Organization Ambassadors Appointment Ceremony on 19 May.
Originally located on the second floor of Fong Sum Wood Library, Lingnan University Archives was established in 2012 with generous support from Lingnan Education Organization (LEO). It houses a collection of old photos and paintings, and archival material donated by alumni including books and letters, annual reports and Students’ Union publications.

This year, the Archives will move to the ground floor of Patrick Lee Wan Keung Academic Building for a wider visitor base. The brand-new Lingnan Education Organization Archive of the Re-establishment of Lingnan University will soon open to the public, setting out the glorious history of LU’s re-establishment in Hong Kong and paying tribute to the Lingnan predecessors’ unstinting contributions to university education.

LU President Prof Leonard K Cheng expressed his vote of thanks to LEO’s support to the University over the years, saying: “Their significant contributions have not only made its re-establishment in Hong Kong possible, but also its principal campus in Fu Tei of Tuen Mun, carrying on the fine tradition of Lingnan education generation after generation.”
Since 2009, LEO has been supporting the Lingnan Education Organization Ambassadors Programme, an initiative to recognise students excelling in academic, service and leadership pursuits. It also subsidises students to take part in mainland and overseas exchanges, as well as offering them opportunities to engage in research and its application.
In 2022/23, a total of 91 scholarship recipients are appointed Lingnan Education Organization Ambassadors, who will endeavour to give back to the alma mater and society with Lingnanians’ persevering, pragmatic and serving spirit.
In his remarks, LEO Chairman Mr Augustine Lui Ngok-che recalls that the Board of Directors agreed to re-inject a fund of around HK$4 million into Lingnan Education Organization Ambassadors Programme in 2019, allowing it to run for another 10 years. In addition, LEO has awarded scholarships worth almost HK$630,000 so far this year, 2023.
